The official website for the Kizumonogatari movies has begun streaming the a trailer for Kizumonogatari I: Tekketsu-hen. The trailer was first shown at Madogatari, an exhibition which celebrated Shaft’s 20th anniversary. You can check out the new trailer below.
Kizumonogatari is the third volume in Nisio Isin’s Monogatari series of light novels. It was first released in May 2008. It serves as a prequel to Bakemonogatari and details how Koyomi Araragi first met the female vampire, Shinobu (Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade). It will also follow Araragi as he attempts to return to his normal life.
Kizumonogatari will be split up into three separate films. The first film is set for a theatrical release on January 8, 2016.
The film project will be directed by Akiyuki Shinbo. Shinbo has previously directed most of the Monogatari animes including Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, and Monogatari Series Second Season. Tatsuya Oishi will direct the film alongside Shinbo. Akio Watanabe and Hideyuki Morioka will be in charge of designing the characters. Yota Tsuruoka will direct the sound and Satoru Kousaki will compose the music. The films will be produced at Shaft.
