There were a ton of exciting surprises coming from this Nintendo Direct today. Release dates for many anticipated games, localization announcements for the Dragon Quest series, and collector’s editions made a lot of people happy. However, I think the biggest surprise of them all is something that many fans were, if not openly hoping for, at least curious about: A female Link.
A while back, some character art for a female version of Link, named Linkle, was found in a Hyrule Warriors artbook. Well, today, Nintendo has made it official: Linkle will be making an appearance in the 3DS version of the game. Along with previously-known new characters Tetra, Toon Link, the King of Hyrule, and Skull Kid, Linkle will be added to the playable roster for Hyrule Warriors Legends.
Linkle is described as “a dual-wielding crossbow hunter” who seemingly has a lot of agility on the battlefield, jumping around as she takes down the enemy hordes. Like Link, she has a devastating spin attack, but it is more of “spin kick.”
A female version of Link has been a debated topic, ever since the feminine-looking image of him from the original E3 trailer of Zelda Wii U. Now that she has been confirmed, let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Hyrule Warriors Legends will be released on March 25 for Nintendo 3DS.
