A new Dengeki Online article announced the release of Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition on dedicated gaming consoles for Japan. The game is scheduled to come out on December 17th, and will be available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, the first iteration in the Fighting Climax series, originally came out for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The Vita continues to see support in Japan; it’s good to see the platform being supported with niche titles in spite of concerns about commercial viability.
Ignition adds new gameplay features. In the past, teams were formed with one playable and one assist character, but now there are “two assist characters” – one is a standard assist and the other is a Blast character that uses up Blast icons. New playable characters are also present, including Quenser Barbotage (Heavy Object), Emi Yusa (The Devil is a Part-Timer!), and Tatsuya Shiba (The Irregular at Magic High School). Miyuki Shiba (The Irregular at Magic High School), a playable character in Fighting Climax, can now be either playable or an assist character here (but not both at the same time!) This isn’t to say that the roster has been finalized for Ignition, so far as we know. Ignition will also see a story mode with new scenarios, as well as modes for essential training and online fighting.
There are no localization plans for Ignition as of now. Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is set to release in the West in about a month.
