This weekend in a special stream hosted by NicoNico Chokaigi showing off arcade game Pokkén Fighters, Gengar was announced as a sixth playable character for the game. Interestingly, the Ghost/Poison-type character was chosen by public opinion; when the game was announced in August of last year, a Twitter campaign was also launched, polling fans on who they would like to see. Gengar will be joining the ranks of previously-confirmed fighters Machamp, Lucario, Pikachu, Gardevoir, and Suicune. A gameplay trailer featuring the character can be viewed below, as can the entire hour-long livestream.

Pokkén Tournament will hit Japanese arcades this summer. No ports or localizations have yet been announced for the game.
