Boss #6 – The Haunt
Okay, I will grant you that The Haunt doesn’t look that bad. He seems cuddly and charming compared to some that came before him. But, much like the Mask of Infamy, his true threat comes from his unique gimmick. See those three little ghosts huddling around him? Until you contend with them, he is invincible, but he can still harm you. Even worse, once you defeat his little troop of spirits, The Haunt peels back the skin of his face to reveal the true horror lurking within. He then assails you with Brimstone and bursts of shots, trying to finish you off. This dual nature makes him a worthy candidate this high on the list.
Boss #5 – The Lamb
Since The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth loosely contends with religious themes, it is only fitting that they would turn the story of Isaac completely on its head with a zombified demon version of the sacrificial lamb. I know some of my fellow diehard Binding of Isaac fans might scoff at me putting the Lamb so low on the list, but hear me out. While it is true he is one of the harder bosses in the game, he is far from the most disturbing. In a game with bosses this dark, the Lamb is not a big contender. That said, he is a hell of a fight, and, thus, I had to put him somewhere on my list.
Boss #4 – The Bloat
Fellow Binding of Isaac: Rebirth fans are probably familiar with another boss know as Peep. He is an adorable little freak who jumps around making a mess until you damage him enough. Then, one by one, his eyes pop out and orbit around like manic ping pong balls. The Bloat is his scary, undead form. From the very beginning of the fight, Bloat’s eyes are bouncing around, causing distraction and damaging you when you touch them. To make matters worse, he fires Brimstone lasers at you from his empty eye sockets, which can kill poor Isaac very quickly. The Bloat is easily one of my least favorite bosses of the game, since he’s such a pain in the ass to defeat. But that’s why he ranks so high on my list.
