KOEI TECMO AMERICA LAUNCHES ATELIER SHALLIE: ALCHEMISTS OF THE DUSK SEA FOR PLAYSTATION 3

Players Help Two Girls Fulfill their Dreams in Engaging Final Chapter of Beloved RPG Series

BURLINGAME, Calif. – March 10, 2015 – KOEI TECMO America today announced that the grand finale of developer Gust’s esteemed Atelier Dusk series, Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea, has shipped to stores and is available in North America for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system for $49.99. In the roleplaying game that combines exploration, crafting, battles, life tasks and events, two girls seek to fulfill their dreams in the twilight Dusk World—one to save her homeland, the other to find her dreams.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea closes the series in style with new features developed based on community feedback, as well as new systems that provide ease of entry for newcomers alongside advanced gameplay for established fans. The battle system incorporates strategy and speed emphasizing coordination between characters, the time management system allows for unlimited play time, and Alchemy RPG fans can easily use the engaging Synthesis system to create new items.

“Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea brings the much loved Atelier Dusk series to a wonderful conclusion as players help two very different girls reach their dreams,” said Amos Ip, SVP and General Manager of KOEI TECMO America. “It’s easier than ever for new players to get in and start playing while veteran fans will find deeper adventure and new battle options as they fulfill the girls’ intertwining stories.”

In Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea, players choose to play as either the reserved, mission-focused Shallistera– daughter of a tribal leader who embarks on a voyage to find a solution to a crisis affecting her homeland– or ambitious, energetic Shallotte, who has been struggling to bring success to the alchemy workshop since the passing of her father. While their personalities and appearance are drastically different, they both share the nickname “Shallie”. The dual main character system has been improved with separate stories and multiple endings for Shallistera and Shallotte.

For the first time in the Atelier series, Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea includes a 360-degree camera, giving players more freedom as they explore a vast world map that has expanded greatly with many new environments that evolve based on how the player progresses. In the new Quest system, players can either take on only assignments necessary to progress the game or earn more points engaging in additional, more challenging quests.
