Apologies for not getting this out last week. There were quite a few new titles to talk about in last week’s Media Create that we didn’t get to talk about. We’ll get to all of them in a bit. But first, we check out how hardware is doing.

The 3DS continues to hold the top spot, but is well behind last year’s numbers, dropping below 50% of last year’s Year-to-Date sales. Meanwhile, its top competitor, the Vita, is well ahead of where it was last year, selling 11,000 more units than during the same week last year and even eclipsing last year’s mark by over 200,000 units. It’s lifetime totals are still far behind the 3DS but it’s at least putting up decent numbers.

The same can’t be said for any of the home consoles, as the Wii U and PS4 can’t seem to stay above that 10,000 weekly mark. Heck, if it wasn’t for the 300,000 units sold on day one, the PS4 sales would be on par, maybe lower, than the Wii U’s Year-to-Date sales.

Moving on to software, there were a ton of new titles to talk about. We start with The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki II, the sequel to the 2013 PS3 and Vita game. The Vita version opened with over 86,000 units sold and closed last week with just under 100,000. The PS3 version opened with 65,000 units sold and closed last week with 75,000 units sold. Combined, the two have sold about 172,000 units. Given that it’s taken XSEED Games years to translate the first two Trails in the Sky games, you probably should learn Japanese if you want to play this game.

Next is Zettai Zetsubō Shōjo: Danganronpa Another Episode, a spin-off of the main Danganronpa series. The game is a survival-horror adventure game that takes place in between Trigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair. The odds of this coming over are fairly good as NIS America has taken care care of the first two games.

Then we have Haikyu!! Tsunage! Itadaki no Keshiki!! This is an adventure game that is based on certain elements of the sports, comedy-drama anime called Haikyu!! From the looks of things, it seems to take the characters from the series and place them in something more like feudal Japan.

Fatal Frame: Oracle of the Sodden Raven | Media Create Sales Charts

Next is Fatal Frame: Oracle of the Sodden Raven. This is the latest game in the Fatal Frame series, which has seen the last two games developed for Nintendo consoles — and even published by Nintendo themselves. While there is a possibility given that Nintendo will be looking at most anything to give the Wii U a positive jolt, the odds are fairly low that this will be coming West.

Following that is Dungeon Travelers 2. This is a Vita port of a PSP RPG that came out last year. The game is a sequel to To Heart 2: Dungeon Travelers, which is a sequel to the To Heart 2 franchise.

Next is Kin’iro no Corda 3: Another Sky feat. Amane Gakuen. This is the latest release in the La Corda d’Oro music-fantasy-romance series and what appears to be the third Another Sky game. I have no idea who or what Amane Gakuen is. If you know, please leave a comment explaining below.

Then we have The Awakened Fate Ultimatum. This is the sequel to The Guided Fate Paradox and will be coming to Western PS3s sometime next year.

Following that is Marvelous’ Bakumatsu Rock: Ultra Soul on Vita. This is the second game in the series and is listed as an adventure game. It was also released on PSP.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix | Media Create Sales Charts

Moving on to the next week, we start with Kingdom Hearts HD II.5 ReMIX. This is the HD version of Kingdom Hearts II. It also includes Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix and a Theater Mode version of Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. The compilation will be available in the West in December.

Forbidden Magna | Media Create Sales Charts

Next is Forbidden Magna. This is one of the last games developed by Neverland before they went out of business. A number of key staff members joined up with Marvelous to continue on the game as it worked toward release in Japan. And while it hasn’t been officially announced for localization, XSEED has stated that they’re keeping an eye on the game, which means that we’ll be keeping an eye open for an announcement.

Omega Quintet | Media Create Sales Charts

Further down the list is Omega Quintet from Compile Heart and Galapagos RPG. This is a PS4 game that seems to be a mix of a idol simulation and an RPG. While it hasn’t been announced for the West, you can’t exactly count it out with both Idea Factory International and NIS America as possible candidates to localize this.

We then get two Vita games from Koei Tecmo, Ar nosurge Plus and Ciel nosurge Offline. Ar nosurge Plus has added content and all the post-release DLC from the PS3 version. Ciel nosurge Offline is, as its title suggests, is a version without an online component. While Ciel nosurge Offline might not make it, it’s possible that Ar nosurge Plus could find its way West since the PS3 game just released in the West.

Following that is Nazotoki Battle Tore! Densetsu no Makyuu o Fukkatsu Saseyo! This appears to be based on a quiz show in the country, like getting a Jeopardy video game here.

Finally, we have F1 2014. This is the sixth Formula One game produced by Codemasters and will be coming to the West in a couple of weeks.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS | Media Create Sales Charts

As for returning games, Super Smash Bros. for 3DS lead the way both weeks, eclipsing 100,000 units each week. Meanwhile, Yo-kai Watch 2 had two weeks of 60,000+ units, moving closer to 3 million by the end of the year. To make that mark before the year is out, Yo-kai Watch 2 will need to average just under 29,000 units per week. Finally, Dragon Quest X Online for 3DS has passed the 100,000 mark after just over a month on the market.
