Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is back in the spotlight as Masahiro Sakurai closed out his Pic of the Day Miiverse posts this week by showing off a new Wii U stage. Castle Siege, based on the Fire Emblem series, originally appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but is returning as a classic stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Sakarai elaborates: “Most of the games in the Fire Emblem series have a different unique setting and have fields without much height, so it was hard to narrow down what venues to focus on. Castle Siege and Colosseum are two stages that aren’t exclusive to specific games in the franchise.”
Both the Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. have the same fighter roster, but most stages will be unique to one version or the other. Only a few stages, like Battlefield, Final Destination, and Wily’s Castle will be in both versions, with some aesthetic differences. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be released this holiday season, while the 3DS version will be out in North America and Europe on October 3rd.
