Bayonetta Fighting a Gold-Clad Villain | Bayonetta 2

New screenshots feature combat, concept art, multiplayer mode.

Bayonetta 2 is just a few short months away from release, and new screenshots and information about the upcoming Wii U exclusive have been revealed, courtesy of Siliconera. The Japanese gaming magazine details a co-op mission-based online multiplayer mode, dubbed “Tag Climax,” where players will team up with a random user or CPU ally to take on enemies based on levels from the game. Challenges can vary from taking on waves of enemies to fighting various bosses from single-player mode. The levels are based on locations from Bayonetta 2‘s story mode and are shown as “Verse Cards.”

So far, only Bayonetta and Jeanne are confirmed to be playable, but players will be able to customize both characters based on skills obtained in the game’s main story mode. Players will compete to get a high score and can even wager Halos (the game’s currency) to see who comes out on top. Halos are used to obtain different abilities and equipment, as well as higher difficulty levels. The harder challenges are more expensive but offer a bigger payout.

The new screens also show off more of the single-player levels, character portraits, the game’s Japanese box art, and a screen from the original Bayonetta. Bayonetta 2 is due out for the Wii U this October in North America and Europe.
