Another week, another Media Create showing a tough time for the consoles. After getting nice boosts last week, the 3DS and Vita fall back towards the pack. And as for the rest, all the consoles lost sales this week.
However, it wasn’t too bad for the the Vita. Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines released this past week with 93,775 units sold for second place. Oreshika has been announced for localization. The Western release date has not yet been announced.
Coming in third is the next new release, Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea. This is the latest title in Gust’s Atelier series. No word of a Western release, but I assume that it will happen, given the history of this series.
Next up, we have Gundam Tri Age SP for the 3DS. This is the latest release in the Gundam series. Since Western releases in this series are few and far between, you’ll probably need to import both this and a Japanese 3DS if you want to play it.
Further down the list, we have Murdered: Soul Suspect. This is an adventure game from Square Enix where you play as a detective that is trying to take down the man that killed him. The game has already released in the West, with you, the readers, voting it into the Top 10 games of June 2014.
Next, we have the latest release from Nippon Columbia in Hoppechan: Minna de Odekake! Waku Waku Hoppe Land!!. It’s hard to find information on this game. The most I was able to find was that it is an action game and it looks to be a bit of a sequel or part of a series called Hoppechan.
Rounding out the new releases, we have Wii Sports Club. This is a physical SKU of the game, housing all five games on one disc. The physical version is already out in Europe and will release on Friday in North America.
As for returning games, Yo-kai Watch 2 continues to lead the way. The two version sequel is screaming towards the 2 million mark, looking to join the ranks of Pokemon X & Y, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Monster Hunter 4, Mario Kart 7, and New Super Mario Bros. 2. And if you split the versions and take the average–which would be about 824,000 per version–it’s less than 400,000 back of the original Yo-kai Watch, which continues to sell well.
Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 remains in the Top 5, securing 14,992 units sold. The game dropped only 1% from last week, which seems to indicate that it’s leveling off, which is good news for the struggling Wii U.
Finally, near the bottom of the list is the return of Persona 4: Golden. As you may remember, this is the Vita port of the original Persona 4. The reason this is getting bumped into the Top 20 seems to stem from two things. One, there’s a sale of sorts. Two, the anime for the game has started, which is helping to drive sales for the game.
