Terra Battle | Mistwalker

So, we now know what Terra Battle is. We knew that Mistwalker, the studio headed by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, was going to announce a new game at the Japan Expo in France tomorrow. We also knew that Mistwalker recently trademarked the name Terra Battle. Hopes were high. Would it be a new RPG for a new generation of consoles? Nope, it’s going to be a free-to-play mobile game. Hopes crushed, expectations met.

Details are scarce at the moment, but it will apparently be possible to play the game start-to-finish without paying a cent. Nobuo Uematsu, who has worked with Sakaguchi on many projects over the years, is onboard to create 20 tracks for the game. Terra Battle is set to arrive sometime in September. Sakaguchi would like to bring the game to consoles as well. More details will be revealed tomorrow. After that we apparently won’t hear more about the game until August.

Disappointing, to be sure, but now that our expectations have hit the floor, maybe Sakaguchi can show us something that will at least give us some hope for the project.

About Guy Rainey

I’m Guy Rainey. I’m a hardcore Nintendo fan, a PC enthusiast, and a Sony sympathizer. Also an amateur/aspiring game creator. I love any game that puts story as the main focus of the game, so that means JRPGs are my favorite genre almost by default.
