Anything seem odd to you in this week’s Media Create charts?
Console | This Week | Last Week |
PSP | 9.365 | 1.421 |
Yeah, that does seem out of place, especially with the PSP mostly hanging around the 1,600 mark the past few months. Well, as it turns out, the PSP is no longer shipping in Japan. So there seems to be a run on the console before it’s completely off the market.
But it seemed like there was a bit of a bump for a number of systems. The PS4 sales numbers increased by about 3,000. 3DS numbers increased by about 12,500 units. While both saw new games release this week in the Top 20, it was the 3DS games that seemed to drive sales for their system.
And it starts with this week’s number one game: Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. One of three Persona titles announced last year, Persona Q mixes characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4 with gameplay of this series and another Atlus property, Etrian Odyssey. Persona Q will release in the West this Fall.
The next new game comes from Unchained Blades developer FuRyu. This is another 3DS game called Cardfight!! Vanguard: Lock on Victory!!. This is the second 3DS game in the series, focusing on the Link Joker arc of the Cardfight!! Vanguard anime/manga. If you want this game, you’ll need to import (as well as buy a Japanese 3DS).
The next new game is Wolfenstein: The New Order, getting the PS4 and PS3 ports into the Top 20. The New Order is the latest game in the series, focusing on an alternate reality where the Nazis won World War II. The New Order has already released in the West.
Next new game, and only Xbox 360 on the list, is Tsurugi no Machi no Ihoujin: Shiro no Oukyuu. Not much is known, but it looks like a dungeon crawler that will be coming to PC and Vita later this year.
The final new game in the Top 20 is Rain, the PS3 adventure game from Acquire and SCE Japan Studio. While the game was released on PSN last year, it appears that a physical version was released.
As for returning games, we see Monster Hunter 4 return to the Top 20. We also see FIFA 14 make the list, which is pretty remarkable since the game didn’t even make the Top 50 last week (although maybe not really remarkable since the World Cup starts this week). And last week’s top game, Mario Kart 8, dropped 78% in sales, moving 73,000 units going through its second weekend.
