There’s a lot of stuff in this week’s Last Call for Funding, so I’ll keep this opening short.

There are two projects I want to direct you to, both of which don’t qualify for one reason or another. The first is the recent Reading Rainbow Kickstarter campaign that just started and was funded with a day. It’s obviously not video game related or even in its last 10 days. However, if you’re like me and you grew up with it, you know the impact this show had on your life and how it can impact other lives. This is a great opportunity to help kids learn how to read, but you don’t have to take my word for it. Go check out the Kickstarter page yourself.

Reading Rainbow

The other is Adventures of Pip, the platforming game we covered in a Crowdfunding Spotlight a little while ago. When we talked about it, the campaign had raised about a third of its goal. Unfortunately, since we covered it, funding has stagnated, climbing only $2,000 at most. This is disappointing, especially since we thought it was a great looking project; and we weren’t the only ones.

The project has been supported by the developers of Heart Forth, Alicia as well as Renegade Kid’s Jools Watsham and the team at WayForward. Numerous websites have praised the concept, including us. And just recently, the game was greenlit for Steam. Unfortunately, the funding just hasn’t been there.

You still have time to help this unique platformer reached its goal. The campaign for Adventures of Pip will remain open until next Wednesday, June 4th, at 6PM EDT. Remember what happened with Amplitude. This is still doable.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Formula Wincars | oprainfall

Formula Wincars

  • Goal: $42,000
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux

From the Kickstarter page:

Formula Wincars aims to be the craziest racing arcade game ever, holding wild races among players all around the wolrd through impossible and fantastic circuits.

Beginners will feel comfortable from the very first play, and more expert players will also find the fast response speed and accuracy required for high-level competition.

As you can imagine, we will focus on the multiplayer experience, with up to eight players competing simultaneously, both individually or teamed up in 4 vs 4 strategic challenges in a very special cooperative synchronized mode.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Shiness | oprainfall

Shiness

  • Goal: $100,000
  • Platforms: Steam, Windows, Mac OS, Linux, PS4 ($140,000 stretch goal), possible Wii U and Xbox One ports

From the Kickstarter page:

A long time ago on a planet called Mahera, many species lived together in harmony. They were all linked by a spiritual energy, source of life and progress. This Energy was called the Shi.

As the civilizations were thriving, the Shi started dwindling which eventually led to a devastating war. The storm of violence unleashed by living beings became unstoppable. The green grass in the valleys was coated by ashes and the rain suddenly became a reminder of the horror suffered by the crying of a planet its own children were mistreating. The all-encompassing link the Shi was once able to maintain failed, hence causing the core of the planet – its heart – to collapse. Crackles appeared all around the globe and then, in a gigantic explosion, Mahera became a cloud of dirt and lighting bolts, enclaving each civilization to its own part of the globe: Meteora masses of land-floating nearby from one another, forever separated both physically and spiritually.

Since those dark times, Human, Sheiks and Waki rebuilt their lives separately and life went on.
