Hardware Sales

3DS 32.038
PS Vita 26.388
PS4 13.401
PS3 10.871
Wii U 7.962
PSP 2.892
Xbox 360 276

So… yeah, not a lot of good numbers in this week’s Media Create charts. While I don’t have total software numbers in front of me right now, I can see that Hardware fell by over 70,000 units from last. That’s a drop of nearly 43 percent.

From the looks of things, this seems to stem from some changes in taxes in Japan. There was a run leading up to it, which resulted in the spikes last week, followed by the massive drop off after it took effect. Not sure what the change is or how it will effect sales going forward. We’ll see over time.

As for games, we did see some new releases this week. First was Just Dance Wii U, published in Japan by Nintendo. While it did get into the Top 5 in both the Media Create and Famitsu charts, its numbers were pretty bad with both charts listing numbers below 20,000.

Natural Doctrine - Media Create | oprainfall

Natural Doctrine from Kadokawa Games was the other new release this week, with the Vita version sliding in at number 20. The PS4 version did make Famitsu’s chart, but I think that might have had most of its sales on the digital side (Media Create deals with physical sales only). The game will be localized for Western audiences by NIS America.

Not much to say about the returning game. Mario Party: Island Tour topped the charts with just under 50,000 in sales. Samurai Warriors 4 has a combined lifetime total over 260,000 units sold. Both versions of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd fell by 80+%. We also see the return of Pokemon X & Y, Dragon Quest Monsters 2, and Puzzle & Dragons Z to the charts.
