It’s now time for the third group of the tournament. This is the Uematsu group. The winner of this group will face off against the Toriyama group. And leading the way is…

Sephiroth—Final Fantasy VII

The Sephiroth experiment has yielded quite the range of emotions from fans and enemies alike. Ask some, and they’ll say that he doesn’t deserve a top line spot; ask others, and he’s the odds-on favorite to upset Kefka. Sephiroth will open the tournament with Zio from Phantasy Star IV.

For the 8th seed, we have Lorithia from Xenoblade Chronicles. She’ll feel right at home with her opponent, the Dragon God from Chrono Cross.

With the 5th seed, we have the original Final Fantasy villain, Garland. And since one original villain deserves another, Garland will be facing off against Dhaos from Tales of Phantasia, the first Tales series game.

At number 4, we have the Lord of Terror himself, Diablo. After attempting to bring chaos and anarchy to Sanctuary with his brothers Mephisto and Baal, Diablo steps out on his own to take on others of his ilk. He’ll begin with Corvos, the fallen Celestrian from Dragon Quest IX.

In the bottom half of the grouping, we have Zophar from Lunar 2: Eternal Blue at the 6th seed. The God of Evil is looking to make a mark as he faces off against Macha, the Temptress, from .hack.

At the 3rd seed, we have former Spectre Saren Arterius, one of two villains from the original Mass Effect. He’ll start his assault against the manipulator of Tellius, Lehran from Fire Emblem.

At the 7th seed is General Hugo, the leader of Alistel from Radiant Historia. He’ll be looking to make his voice heard against the fury of Fawful from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

Rounding out the Uematsu grouping, Lavos from Chrono Trigger has claimed the number-2 seed. Lavos will square off against the malevolent Nyarlathotep from Persona 2.
