Lightning in FFXIV

On the heels of Square Enix’s latest attempt at bridging their multiple series in one giant crossover, the Japanese developer has released more crossover news as Lightning from Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII gets some new fashion tips and shows up to the party in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

In the newest Final Fantasy game, Lightning Returns, our heroine will be able to wear an outfit based on the Miqo’te race from Final Fantasy XIV and acquire weapons and shields based on Final Fantasy XIV city-states Limsa Lominsa, Ul’dah, and Gridania. To gain this outfit, players will have to follow clues hidden within the world of Nova Chrysalia featured in the game. For the weapons and shields, players will be able to acquire them by completing many of the game’s side quests.

In Final Fantasy XIV, Lightning will star in one of the MMO’s Full Active Time Events (FATEs), letting players fight alongside her in an epic battle. For those players who complete the event, the prize gained will be gear and weaponry based on those from Lightning Returns.

For those curious about the Final Fantasy XIV Lightning event and the Lightning Returns gear, watch the trailer below.

Final Fantasy XIV is available right now in all regions for Windows and the PS3, with a PS4 release coming in 2014. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is coming out for the Xbox 360 and PS3 November in Japan and February in North America and Europe.
