Fable Legends was announced by Lionhead Studios game director David Eckelberry at Gamescom 2013 today. With the game using the Xbox One’s cloud features, it will only be playable online. No release date was given, but it seems that this will not be a launch title. Another feature put to use is Xbox SmartGlass.

Fable Legends is set during Albion’s age of heroes and takes place 400 years before the original game. Your friends can get into the action with four-player co-op support, and each player will be able to choose their own set of skills. A Prince Charming-type character, an archer, a female barbarian and a magic user were shown at the Microsoft event this morning.

The game allows players to be the hero or the villain. Players who choose to be the villain will be controlling things from a top-down perspective. They will be placing enemies, ambushes and traps in their opponent’s way.

This could make for some interesting scenarios with your friends. Would you be the hero or the villain?
