Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

Square Enix has released a new English trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. The trailer, dubbed “13 Days”, premiered at San Diego Comic-Con and features both gameplay and cutscenes:

In addition to the trailer, Square Enix also released a host of English screenshots. Although they’re not the best quality, the screenshots do reveal several aspects of the game we hadn’t had a chance to see yet, including some new locations and battle mechanics. The screenshots show off Yusnann, the ‘City of Reverly’; the Slaughterhouse, where arena battles are held; and the station, a deserted area in the city’s warehouse district. The screenshots also demonstrate a new battle feature in which Lightning can target specific parts of an enemy, weakening them and potentially unlocking awards. We also get to see one of Lightning’s new counter attacks:

Although the Western release of the game has been delayed until 2014, there continues to be a huge influx of news about the game. A gameplay demo was recently released, as well as a trailer that premiered at Japan Expo. Additionally, there was a playable demo of the game at E3, you can checkout out our hands-on impression for more details.
