There is a lot of mystery going into Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 , the latest game from developer Compile Heart. Fans have speculated whether this was a remake, a sequel, or a possible reboot for the franchise’s premiere on the PS Vita. There are strong hints of it being a reboot, as the official reveal of the game at the Dengeki Game Festival contained the message “Neptune, restart,” shown right before the game’s title appeared. Now, a teaser site has opened up, and from the looks of it, we may be getting our answers June 27.
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 is the newest in the Neptunia series, a franchise well-known for its very cutesy anime-style design. This new title puts players back in the role of Neptune, the main character of the original Hyperdimension Neptunia, as the teaser website has a pixelated, chibified Neptune greeting guests.
The teaser website marks June 27 as an important date, telling visitors to be on the lookout for that day’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation. Dengeki PlayStation is a Japanese gaming magazine published by ASCII Media Works that mainly covers Sony’s consoles.
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 was announced in March for the PS Vita in Japan, but no official release date was given. Yet with news of more information coming in June, it should be announced very soon. Localization for the West was also unfortunately not officially announced, so Western fans should be on the lookout, as well.
