killer is dead gameplay

Grasshopper Manufacture’s new action game Killer is Dead just released two new trailers on Famitsu. The first trailer shows combat from episode seven of the main storyline which is entitled, “The Tiger That Faded into Darkness,” and the second trailer shows some gameplay from the Brazil-set Natalia Gigolo Mission.

The first trailer shows some of Killer is Dead’s gameplay, which is incredibly fast-paced. In combat players will have to land long intricate combos in the blink of an eye to slice and dice the robotic opponents. The gameplay looks to have been inspired by the likes of the Devil May Cry series and Bayonetta, franchises known for their kookie, but impressively deep combat systems. The world of Killer is Dead appears to be quite vibrant, as the fluid animations and explosive finishing moves complement each other and look awesome.

One of the weirdest segments of the Killer is Dead game is in the second trailer. In a unusual mini-game that takes place in some sort of bar our main character nonchalantly ogles a women while racking up points for a couple meters (a brain meter, and some sort of relationship meter) while seemingly trying to pretend to be interested in her conversation. The mini-game takes an even stranger twist as our hero gets enough meter points to take out some sort of x-ray glasses, giving the players a view of the woman’s lingerie.

Killer is Dead is being developed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with its release slated for August of this year. Publisher Kadokawa Games will be distributing the game in Japan, while XSEED and Deep Silver Games will distribute the title in North America and Europe respectively.
