Well, before we get any Vita haters talking smack about the Vita falling in this week’s Media Create charts, let me just say this: EVERYTHING IS DOWN! Overall console sales are down nearly 50,000 with the 3DS making the bulk of that loss with a 27,000 unit drop. It took just over 3,000 sales for Pro Baseball Spirits 2013 on the PS3 to get 20th this week. Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the game that has had the longest of legs the past 6 months, is down to 25,000. Not only did one game make the six figure mark (Tomodachi/Friend Collection with 103,479), it was the only game even close to the 100,000 mark. And the only new game to make the Top 20 this week is Ecstasy Wafter: Converted Edition, which appears to be a spin-off game to Little Busters!
So why are numbers down? Simply put, nothing of note has been releasing the past few weeks. The more hyped releases will be coming in two weeks with games like Shin Megami Tensei IV, Resident Evil: Revelations HD, and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D releasing that week. So, don’t be surprised to see either stagnant numbers or another drop before the week of May 20-26.
