Hardware Sales

3DS 76.463
PS Vita 22.051
PS3 17.415
Wii U 13.173
PSP 8.443
Wii 2.238
Xbox 360 596

So, with absolutely nothing new being released in the Top 20 of the Media Create charts, the hardware numbers decided to rise up across the board for the week. And frankly, I have no idea why (except for the 3DS, but I’ll get to that later). For the most part, each console stayed put — which is particularly good for the Vita to repeat last week’s 20,000+ performance. But the jump for the top 2 home console is a bit mind boggling. The PS3 and Wii U jumped 3,000 and 5,000 in sales respectively with almost no reason I can find as to why it happened.

The only thing I can think of — and the reason the 3DS saw another 20,000 sales jump — is because they were able to restock games this week. If you look at the 3DS numbers and see the Top 20 list, you’ll notice that most 3DS games saw an increase in sales. This is most visible in its top 4 this week in Friend Collection: New Life (44% increase), Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (66% increase), Animal Crossing: New Leaf (49% increase), and Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission (which saw the biggest placement jump from 27 to 5) — I’m not counting NSMB2 because it has been consistently around that 10,000 mark for about a month.
