A recent Square Enix trademark has people wondering if a remake of the Game Boy Color Dragon Quest Monsters 2 games might be in development. Sqaure Enix trademarked the name “Iru to Ruca no Fushigi na Fushigi na Kagi” in Japan, and according to Gematsu, that roughly translates to “Iru and Luca’s Wonderful Mysterious Keys.” Given that the first Dragon Quest Monsters title was remade in Japan as Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland and that Dragon Quest Monsters 2 was released in two versions, with each version focusing on a different character, this odd trademark could mean that a remake of Dragon Quest Monsters 2 is in development. The trademark seems to suggest that this remake might include both playable characters from the original Dragon Quest Monsters 2 release. This wouldn’t be terribly surprising though, since Terry’s Wonderland sold almost a million copies in Japan alone. Still, I’m always happy to see more Dragon Quest games. Just add it to the list of games that need to come to America.
