Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Maiden represents a major shift in the franchise by having a story mode with preset characters. It’s likely an effort to help establish a more personal connection with the characters and their story. Their names are Hero, Frederica Irving, Simon Yorke, Racoona Sheldon, and Arthur Charles. But if you prefer playing with characters you make yourself, don’t worry! Famitsu recently revealed that the game will also have a Classic mode, which allows you to create your own characters. You can even give your party additional skills that they can’t obtain normally through Grimoire, which are equipable rocks that contain skills from other classes.
Other customization options for Millennium Maiden include three difficulty settings (Picnic, Standard, and Expert) and being able to choose between a synthesized soundtrack and a soundtrack that was performed live. Both of these kinds of settings can be changed at any time during the game.
As previously reported, Millennium Maiden will once again feature music by Yuzo Koshiro, the composer for every Etrian Odyssey title to date.
Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Maiden will be available in Japan on June 27th this year for the 3DS.
