In an interview with EvolveEnt, Naughty Dog’s Arnie Meyer revealed that the single player campaign in The Last of Us will be between 12-16 hours, depending on the player’s speed.
Meyer also gives some extra detail on the enemy AI and the types of infected the player will encounter. The humans’ AI is said to be aware of the difference in power between itself and the player and will react depending on where the balance of power stands. The example given is that if the enemy sees that the player does not have a gun, they will be more aggressive than normal. If the enemy sees that the player has the upper hand, they will be more defensive.
Two types of infected the player will encounter were also discussed. One type is the “Runner”. These infected are aggressive and will attack in groups. Another type is known as the “Clicker”. Clickers cannot see the player, but they will try to locate them by making clicking sounds. Meyer hopes that the enemy variety will allow the player to come up with different combat strategies throughout the game.
Finally, it was revealed that The Last of Us will have multiplayer focused DLC only. There will be no DLC for the single player campaign.
