This week’s Nintendo Download brings forth more than usual. In addition to games and content that will be available in just a few short hours, or throughout this week, I also bring news of things coming soon, things worth waiting for. Without ado, let’s venture forth!
First and foremost: a demo for HarmoKnight will be available today, with the game itself set for release on March 28th, to give those of you who wish to skip Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity something to play. There’s also a sale on Ketzel’s Corridors for $4.99. If the 3DS isn’t your cup of tea, a demo of Chasing Aurora will be available on Wii U.
Speaking of the Wii U, Nintendo wants gamers to take note of several games coming throughout this week. Chief among them for us is likely Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate, heading to Wii U and 3DS on March 19th. Those interested can also check out Lego City: UNDERCOVER when it launches on March 18th, Need for Speed: Most Wanted U on March 19th, and…The Croods: Prehistoric Party as well.
Neither Virtual Console was overlooked this week. The 3DS Virtual Console gets Mega Man 3, and the Wii U Virtual Console shall offer Punch Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream on March 20th for that Famicom celebratory price of 30 cents.
That takes care of the usual stuff, ladies and gentlemen. As always, check here for more information.
From here on out, we’re going to cover Fire Emblem: Awakening DLC in our Nintendo Download feature, because Nintendo sometimes forgets in their press emails. Here’s what’s coming this week, in terms of paid DLC, courtesy of Nintendo’s 3DS Facebook page:
Fire Emblem Awakening DLC alert! Complete the Smash Brethren 1 map to get Elincia as a playable character. The Smash Brethren 1 map will be available for $3.00 on 3/14, or you also have the option of getting all three Lost Brethren maps for $6.50.
There’s way more to come in terms of free Spotpass DLC as well. According to this press release from Nintendo, you can expect free maps, items and characters to be strewn about the remainder of March and April. Specifically: “A Hard Miracle” will be available today, “Ghost of Blade” on March 28th, “The Wellspring of Trust” on April 11th, and finally “The Radiant Hero” on April 25th. …I know at least one individual who’s really excited about that last map. You can find more information about what each map offers and how to access them at the above press release link.
But wait, there’s more!
News broke this week regarding The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons. Remember how Japan got them a little ways back? Remember how we want them? According to Eiji Aonuma via the Miiverse, we’ll get them “before summer”. So I suppose we won’t be waiting too much longer.
