War of the Roses, the medieval combat game for the PC,  has a whole lot going on in the coming months. The game is getting new DLC, a “gold edition”, a free trial and much more.

To start us off with the War of the Roses announcements, there will be some free and paid DLC. For the free content there is going to be a content pack called “Outside the Law” which will include a forest map that was inspired by Sherwood Forest. The new map includes bows, a quarterstaff and a Robin Hood-style hat that you can sport while killing your enemies.

The “gold edition” of War of the Roses: Kingmaker will be available in late Q1 of 2013 and will be a complete collection of all the additional content that has been available for War of the Roses. Included in this “gold edition” will also be a couple of new modes, one of which will allow players to assault the castles.

Brian Blessed will be the narrator of the downloadable content. Here is a little preview for us all to enjoy.

February 6, 2013 will see the beginning of the free trial that will allow players to try out the multiplayer mode, as long as they wish. You will not be able to customize the layouts or earn any unlockable content while in the free trial. The free trial for War of the Roses seems to be pretty in-depth, even if it won’t allow you to earn the unlockable items.
