Nintendo Download

This week, we have a new demo from a game created by the infamous DoubleFine Studios, the winner at the 2010 IGF, some sparkling DLC and reminders of the next big strategy hit from Nintendo, all for you, here on the Nintendo Download.

Featured on the Wii U, Puddle is a physics-engine game that has you guiding a puddle of viscous fluid through 49 diverse and unique levels of environmental havoc. The game is in the same style as those old-school tilting water puzzles. According to the official press, “Players must also take into account friction, gravity and temperature, and use various types of liquids to navigate the unique environments that include burning passageways, carnivorous plants and electric currents.”

Also on the Wii U from the Nintendo eShop is a Demo for The Cave, the new adventure game from Ron Gilbert, famous creator of point-and-click classics like Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, as well as Double Fine Productions, the epic studio behind Psychonauts and Brütal Legend. This kind of pedigree brings humor and fun aplenty as you assemble a trio from seven unlikely adventurers, each with their own unique backstory. The range of possible locations goes from the eclectic to the insane, including an underground amusement park and a fully-armed ICBM! The Cave awaits you. If you’re still unsure about taking the plunge with this game (which released last week), take the Demo for a spin.

On the 3DS eShop, there is Fire Emblem: Awakening, the long-awaited reinvention of this storied strategy franchise from the mighty halls of Nintendo’s demense, staffed with many worthy warriors from Intelligent Systems. Knights, mages, and over two dozen other classes combine into a mighty army, awaiting your strategic maneuvers on February 4th. Protect your kingdom against a dark and menacing threat from another world and time. Just plan your attacks carefully – the lives of your soldiers and the future of the world depend on it.

Nintendo DownloadAvailable today on the 3DS, Ikachan brings you down in an underwater cave at the bottom of an abyss… and there’s only one way out. Using whatever tools you can find, you must avoid dangerous obstacles and deadly earthquakes in this bit-style title, attempting to escape a vast and dangerous undersea kingdom. Also arriving for the eShop are Agetec’s Witch’s Cat and Bloody Vampire for 3DS and EnjoyUp Games’ 99Moves for 3DS and DSi.

For the title Sparkle Snapshots 3DS, new DLC is arriving in the form of decoration sets. These will specifically feature the Mushroom Kingdom cast in “Mario Core Set” and “Mario Kart 7 Set”. Both are available for purchase in the SnapShop in-game.

Finally, we have two Virtual Console titles releasing for both the 3DS and Wii. On the Wii, we get METAL SLUG 4 for the Neo Geo. On 3DS, the NES version of Ice Climber.
