Capcom hit us with a double-whammy of Monster Hunter news today, revealing not only their Monster Hunter-themed 3DS XL case (more on that later), but also this new Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate monster known as… Nibelsnarf. No, I’m serious. It’s really called Nibelsnarf.
The Nibelsnarf is a Leviathan-type enemy that burrows in the sands of the desert. As its name, as well as the several screenshots focusing on its mouth, suggest, its main focus is on eating. Besides trying to eat you, it will also suck in vast amounts of sand from its surroundings, then spit it back out at you, both from its mouth and the gills in the back of its head–meaning that even if you run around behind it you won’t be safe!
Capcom has likened it to the Gobul, a blowfish-like monster from the original Monster Hunter 3 that had a similar attack set, but lived underwater rather than in the sand.
Meanwhile, the votes have been tallied for the Monster Hunter-themed 3DS XL case, and the clear winner was the bronze color. As a result, the protective aluminum case is now available for preorder at the Capcom Store. Like its normal-sized 3DS counterpart, it features an amazing Brachydios design.
As the release of both this case and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U and3DS approaches in March, we can probably expect a lot more of these reveals on the new monsters. Stay tuned!
