Atlus has announced this week’s sales, and this time it’s for the PS3 version of SNK’s long running 2D fighting franchise, The King of Fighters XIII. The King of Fighters XIII goes back to the series strengths and not only offers more characters than the previous game, but more stages, a stronger soundtrack, an actual story which finishes Ash’s story arc, and a better netcode for online play. The level of craftsmanship that went into furthering the 2D graphics for XIII is pure SNK goodness.
Now you can get this prestigious game for FREE if you’re a PlayStation Plus user on Sony’s PlayStation Network, and it doesn’t end there. Alongside the King of Fighters XIII sale itself, all of the game’s DLC will also be 30-50% off! Act soon, as this will only be for a limited time offer!
The King of Fighters XII was a huge disappointment to many and some have lost faith in the franchise and the developer. SNK heard the complaints, and did not just sit idly; they wanted to redeem themselves and make a better sequel in every way, and in my opinion, they succeeded. They even went so far as to even go back and re-draw all of the characters sprites and animations which is shocking since XII was already among one the best looking 2D graphics a game could have. Their hard work shows, and the game went on to look even better; their dedication and love for 2D is awe inspiring. As a big fan of the franchise and just 2D fighting games in general, I loved every single bit of it. Of course, my thanks go out for Atlus for localizing and marketing the game very well.
