So, Konami held a 25th anniversary event for the Metal Gear franchise. It’s at this event where they announced a few new projects for the Metal Gear series. First up is a social game called Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops. If you couldn’t tell from the title, it will be a social game available on GREE, which is a social gaming platform that’s compatible with both iOS and Android. It will have a worldwide release sometime in this coming fall or winter.

Next, Hideo Kojima announced that a Metal Gear Solid movie is in the works. Avi Arad, who previously worked on The Amazing Spider-Man, will be working on this movie as the producer. It will also be released by Columbia Pictures. For those who are afraid that this movie is going to get molested like most Hollywood movies, Kojima promised that this adaptation would stay faithful to the source material. So I expect a sequence involving Psycho Mantis showing up and messing with both Snake and with the audience in some way.

Finally, a new entry in the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been revealed. Called Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, this game will be an open-world title running on the new FOX Engine. Some footage from the event showed Snake doing his usual thing, like avoiding searchlights, riding in a jeep, and requesting evacuation from a helicopter. How exactly all of this will work in an open-world game is anyone’s guess, though. A release date and available platforms for this game are currently unknown.
