Two years after Ubisoft showed us how to make a good licensed game, the company is finally adding online multiplayer to the proceedings.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, a downloadable beat-em-up based on the graphic novel series and movie of the same name, first hit PSN and XBLA in August 2010. Featuring 2D side-scrolling gameplay, local multiplayer and a soundtrack by chiptune band Anamanaguchi, this retro revival was critically acclaimed. Now, Xbox Live’s Major Nelson has announced that on August 19, 2012, the XBLA version of the game will get new DLC featuring online multiplayer. Also included is a new playable character: Wallace Wells, Scott Pilgrim’s roommate.

This is the second time Ubisoft has offered DLC for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, as Knives Chau, the main character’s ex-girlfriend, was first offered for 80 Microsoft Points/$1.99 on PSN shortly after the game’s initial release.

The “Online Multiplayer/Wallace Pack DLC” will retail for 400 Microsoft Points ($5). There’s no word yet on PSN availability.

About Will Whitehurst

Will joined the Operation Rainfall Campaign soon after news broke of that infamous French interview about Xenoblade. Subsequently, he got actively involved and became a staff member in July/August 2011. He is currently an Editor on the website, and loves to play, discuss, debate and learn more about games. Will gravitates towards unconventional action games (such as bullet hell shooters) and RPGs, but plays pretty much anything except Madden. He is also passionate about such things as the Japanese language (which he occasionally translates for the site) and the medical field.
