Project X Zone, the epic Namco Bandai/Sega/Capcom crossover title for the 3DS, might have a shot of a western release.
Posted on the Project X Zone Localization Community Facebook page (https://www NULL.facebook NULL.com/100000StrongToLocalizeProjectXZone/posts/416219831773482), a representative for Namco Bandai apparently revealed that the company is waiting to see how the game sells in Japan before they decide whether or not they want to pursue a western release. If Namco does decide that the game’s performance in Japan is satisfactory, the title would be released in the west in late 2013 or early 2014. Given the involvement of the various companies involved with the game, it’s probably a safe assumption that licensing the various characters/franchises will be a time-consuming endeavor on Namco Bandai’s part.
Allow me to reiterate: This is a rumor and should NOT be viewed as a victory. Even if the game does sell well in Japan that does NOT necessarily mean anything. The localization of Project X Zone is not confirmed at this time.
Project X Zone is set to release in Japan on October 10, 2012, so we won’t have to wait too much longer to see the game’s performance in Japan.
