Bethesda Softworks is opening a new development studio in Austin, Texas. It’s named Battlecry Studios, and they are already starting work on a new unnamed project and are looking for new talent.

Battlecry is being headed up by industry vet Richard Vogel, who has worked on such consoles as the CD-I, PS1, and various Sega systems, and was the driving force behind Star Wars Galaxies – he even headed up their live team in 2003, moving onto the position of executive producer for The Old Republic before he left the company

The rumor mill seems abuzz with the legal battle for the rights for a Fallout based MMO still up in the air, and given Mr. Vogel’s area of expertise, an MMO or at least an online capable game seems highly likely, but they have released no official word on their first project.

Vogel did release a statement about the newly formed studio and its connection to Bethesda:

“I have always admired and respected Bethesda’s approach to making great, original games. It’s a belief and passion I share, and I’m looking forward to building a team of high quality developers who want to bring that same commitment and creative energy to the games we’ll be creating.”

Chris is a 28 year old gamer who joined Operation Rainfall in the fall of 2012. When he’s not writing articles or working on video content for Rainfall, he spends his time creating Let’s Plays for his personal Youtube channel, and filling in the last few missing titles of his vast (in his mind) game collection, prefering RPG’s but wont turn down a title of another genre if it looks interesting.
