Developer Poleaxe Games invites you to delve into their first-person, action RPG, Empire of Ember. It blends management elements with real-time strategy. To help players get to know the game and its world, the developers have been doing a dev blog series for the last seven weeks. You can check back for new blogs each week, as they continue to cover the game through its time in Steam Early Access. So far, they have covered the following topics:

  1. A Quick Catchup
  2. Short-Term Dev Roadmap
  3. Build Mode
  4. Storyline
  5. Highlights
  6. Commander Mode

Empire of Ember entered Steam Early Access back on March 31st. The developers have also updated it many times this year. More new features, content, and performance updates will continue to come as the game matures.

Today’s press release also included a brief description of the game:

“Empire of Ember is a first-person action-RPG with real-time strategy and management elements that takes place in the fantastical world of Domus. You will step in the boots of a Lightbringer, a human sensitive to the mystical Ember shards, which grant the use of magic. As a Lightbringer apprentice, you inherit rule over a city after a goblin army led by a mysterious masked cultist destroys it and kills your master. You will need to bring your town back to prosperity while investigating the strange events behind your master’s murder — which will lead you to uncover a death cult that threatens to destroy the very foundations of the world. Fight thrilling battles of up to a hundred units in fully destructible environments, explore a world of procedurally generated maps and dungeons, build and customise your town with total freedom, and govern and manage your resources wisely to bring your city back to life. The fate of the Empire is in your hands!”

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
