As you might expect, this holiday Nintendo Download is on the lighter side. However, the sales section is more active this week thanks to various holiday sales. Happy holidays everyone, and lets jump into things!

Featured Games

Our lone featured title this week is the relaxing strategy card game, Wingspan ($19.99). One to five players can compete, with the goal of discovering and attracting the best birds to their nature preserves. The game’s 170 unique birds have powers that are pulled from real life, and they have real-life sound recordings to go along with their animations. Wingspan is based on the “award winning, competitive, medium-weight, card-driven, engine-building board game”. It won the Kennerspiel des Jahres board game award in 2019.

As you’re likely already aware, Sephiroth has officially joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate a couple of days ago. Many of you probably already had him unlocked via the special in-game challenge that was temporarily available on the main menu. I’m not going to go into any depth on this DLC since we covered it last week, though.

Smash Bros. Ultimate | Sephiroth

Sephiroth stands ready for battle in the realm of Super Smash Bros.

Current Sales

We have some big and small sales this week. We’ll skip the Bandai Namco Winter Meltdown sale, since we covered that in the previous Nintendo Download last week. The same is true for the Grindstone launch discount, and FUSER sales. We have too much new stuff to look at this week so lets get into it.

First up, we have the Indie World Holiday Sale, which runs until 8:59am PT on January 2nd, 2021. Several of these sales today have far to much to cover in any detail, so we’ll just have a few highlights from each. You can check out the full lists at the bolded “sales this week” link at the start of this section. This indie sale features 30 titles in all, including:

The next big sale this week is the NIS America New Year 2021 Sale, which runs until 11:59pm PT on January 10th, 2021. This sale spans 25 titles in all, including but not limited to:

Our third holiday sale to check out is the Capcom Games Sale, with savings up to 75% off. This one runs until 11:59pm PT on January 4th, 2021. It has 35 games in all, including a few 3DS games. Here are just a few:

We also have the Ubisoft Holiday Sale running until 11:59pm PT on December 31st. This one contains 22 titles in all, including names like:

Here we are at the final big new sale today, and it is the EA Independent Holiday Sale, which runs until 8:59am PT on January 4th, 2021. This sale contains a whopping five games.

That rounds out the unusually long sales section in this Nintendo Download.

About Michael Fontanini

Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general).

I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
