It’s time for another Nintendo Download, after having a week off last week. This was because Nintendo’s press release post was broken at the time. It was still just an empty post last weekend, though it seems to have been fixed since then. That press release didn’t really have anything major, as it has only one featured game. I suppose we’ll just include it in this week’s Nintendo Download at the end of the featured section. Probably the one major thing we missed last week would’ve been Black Friday sales, but it’s too late now. So let’s just dive into this week’s Nintendo Download news, where we have six featured titles to talk about.

Featured Games

First up, we have mythical adventure Immortals Fenyx Rising ($59.99). Guide the demigod, Fenyx, on an epic quest to save the Greek Gods. Along the way you’ll fight mythological beasts as you wield the powers of the Gods to best your enemies. You’ll also need to solve ancient puzzles in a stylized open world, which spans seven different regions. There is also a Gold Edition, which gets you the game, plus the season pass and some exclusive game content.

John Wick Hex ($19.99) gets you thinking like professional hit man, John Wick, from the well-known film franchise. This fast-paced, action-filled strategy game was developed in close cooperation with the creative teams that brought you the movies. The game expands the story of the John Wick universe, while bringing to life fight-choreographed chess, and the series’ signature gun fu style. You can watch the trailer here since it is age-restricted.
John Wick Hex

Next up, we have Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light ($5.99). Prince Marth’s original NES adventure is no longer Japan-only. You may recall that it got a remake on Nintendo DS in 2009, called Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, but now you can play the original 8-bit game in English on your Switch. This new localized version also includes new features, like save states. Guide Prince Marth in his tactical RPG adventure, as he recruits over 50 playable characters and takes on the forces of Shadow Dragon. The story spans 25 chapters that follow the knights of Altea as they fight against dark magic. Can you lead them to victory, or will they fall to the darkness?

I feel it should be noted here that there is also some bad news, as this game is the latest title to join Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Bros. 35 in the limited time release club. This detail is on the game’s eShop page (linked above), and is curiously missing from the trailer. The game’s description text says it is “localized and released for the first time in North America—for a limited time.” I saw this mentioned at the top of the comments on the trailer, so I went and verified it myself. It does not say when it stops being available, though.

Also in the RPG category, we have the Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack ($49.99). Guide Don-chan in two different RPG adventures, as you use your drumming skills to save the world. You will embark on an adventure through time to save the world from the mysterious events that are happening.

The new featured title for today is PHOGS! ($24.99). Guide a duo of dogs through a puzzling adventure. The protagonists are linked by a stretchy belly. They’ll need to bark, bite, and bounce to get through this adventure by overcoming the obstacles in their path. They’ll travel through worlds themed around Food, Sleep, and Play in either single-player or co-op mode.

The last featured title for today is Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise ($49.99). Exercise to pop tunes in this rhythmic boxing game. Choose from various trainers with unique personalities. You can also workout with a friend by giving them a Joy-Con. There is also a free demo available, and save data will carry over to the full game.

I mentioned in the intro section why we missed last week’s Nintendo Download due to Nintendo’s press release post being broken. So now we’ll round out this section with the single, lonely featured title that we missed because of that last week.

Empire of Sin ($39.99) drops players into the middle of the criminal underworld in Chicago during the Prohibition era. Take on the roll of one of 14 mob bosses inspired by history, such as Al Capone, Stephanie St. Clair or Goldie Garneau. Assemble a gang, and expand your criminal empire while defending your turf. You’ll expand your territory in turn-based combat, or just send a clear message to rival gangs who dare oppose you. Empire of Sin just launched on December 1st.

Current Sales

There isn’t really anything major to talk about as far as sales going into this weekend, since the big sales were last week. While the sales news section is pretty empty for this Nintendo Download, you can still find some generally smaller deals scattered around the eShop, though.

Well that wraps up the first Nintendo Download for December 2020. Below is a list of all the new eShop games that we missed last week due to that technical issue I mentioned in the intro.

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
