We’re back with the October 8, 2020 Nintendo Download, and this time we have four featured games to look at. Nintendo has also released a demo for Pikmin 3 Deluxe this week, giving players a sneak peak at some of its new features. The demo allows players to try out Mission Mode, which allows you to play with a second player, as does the main game. If you defeat the first boss in the demo and load your save data in the full game, you’ll immediately get the Ultra-Spicy difficulty option.

Without any further ado, lets jump into the featured games for this week.

Featured Games

Today’s first featured game is The Survivalists ($24.99). Explore, gather resources, craft food/tools, and survive in a procedurally generated island wilderness. You can tame and train monkeys to help you with various tasks, or even have them join you on camp raids. Your simian friends will be important allies. Delve into labyrinths to see what sort of loot you can scavenge, maybe even a great new sword. However, this won’t be easy, as these places are not for the faint of heart.

Next up we have puzzle, adventure, I Am Dead ($19.99). From the creators of Hohokum, amd Wilmot’s Warehouse, this new game takes players on an adventure in the afterlife. To take on the role of recently deceased museum curator, Morris Lupton, now reunited with the spirit of his old dog, Sparky. Unfortunately, there is no time for relaxation, as disaster is about to befall the tiny island he loved in life (Shelmerston).

The third item in today’s Nintendo Download featured section is a tactical turn-based RPG called Inkenfell ($17.99 | $19.99). It follows a troublesome group of magic students. Players will explore their vast magic school, and its bizarre halls, take on formidable monsters, and find loads of dark secrets and treasure. Three of the magic students can take part in battle (chosen out of six), and each has their own unique powers. There are 48 different spells, over 100 monsters of many types, 22 dangerous bosses, and 100+ items from wands and rings, to cloaks, hats, and magical artifacts.

The fourth and final featured title today is FIFA 21 Nintendo Switch Legacy Edition ($49.99). It brings with it the latest kits, clubs, and squads from of the world’s top leagues. It features many of the world’s most well-known stadiums, including some new additions. Pre-orders are available now.

Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you with more next week. I’ll also be getting these articles out a bit earlier again soon as well, now that I’ve made a little software tool to help me with some of the mundane work. It helps by organizing the data I collect for the article and helping me decide how to group things by tallying games per genre for me and other stuff.

About Michael Fontanini

Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general).

Michael is also a computer programmer. This started with a toy he got as a kid called Pre-Computer 1000 that was made by V-Tech. It had a simple programming mode (a bare-bones version of BASIC) which is what started him down the road of being a programmer! Michael can program in BASIC, Visual Basic, C++, C#, and is familiar with Java and Lua Script.

Putting programming and gaming together, Michael became a hobbyist game developer, which may give him some good insights on game development! Most recently, he has been playing with the Unity 3D game engine (a powerful and easy-to-use engine) and learning 3D modelling in Blender.

I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
