Aniplex of America | AX 2019 Announcements

During their industry panel at Anime Expo 2019, Aniplex of America announced 5 new home video releases which would be coming to fans in the next few months. Two of these releases are complete box sets of anime Aniplex had released before on Blu-ray, albeit using separate volumes. You can check out the full list of home video releases coming soon below.


I want to eat your pancreas (Blu-ray)

I want to eat your pancreas is coming to Blu-ray on October 29, 2019. The film is directed Shinichiro Ushijima and produced by Studio VOLN. It is based on Yoru Sumino’s award-winning novel. The Blu-ray will feature both English and Japanese voice options and have package illustrations by Yuichi Oka. A special booklet with cast member interviews is also included. It will cost about $40.

The series is described as follows:

She said, “I want to eat your pancreas.”

Spring time in April and the last of the cherry blossoms are still in bloom. The usually aloof bookworm with no interest in others comes across a book in a hospital waiting room. Handwritten on the cover are the words: “Living with Dying.” He soon discovers that it is a diary kept by his very popular and genuinely cheerful classmate, Sakura Yamauchi, who reveals to him that she is secretly suffering from a pancreatic illness and only has a limited time left. It is at this moment that she gains just one more person to share her secret.

Trying to maintain a normal life as much as possible, Sakura is determined to live her life to the fullest until the very last day. As her free spirit and unpredictable actions throw him for a loop, his heart begins to gradually change.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (Complete Blu-ray Set)

Aniplex is releasing Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai on Blu-ray on November 19, 2019. The Blu-ray set comes with all 13 episodes of the anime and comes housed in packaging illustrated by Keji Mizoguchi and Satomi Tamura featuring Mai Sakurajima. The set also comes with a special booklet and Exclusive Bushiroad Weiß Schwarz card. The anime is directed by Soichi Masui and produced by CloverWorks. The set will cost about $100.

The series is described as follows:

Puberty syndrome – Abnormal experiences rumored on the internet to be caused by sensitivity and instability during adolescence.

This year, Sakuta Azusagawa, a second-year student at a high school near Enoshima, meets several girls that are experiencing this “puberty syndrome.” For instance, he encounters a wild bunny girl in the library.

She turns out to be an actress on hiatus, Mai Sakurajima, who is also his senior at the school. For some reason, no one else can see this enchanting girl.

How did she become invisible…?

As Sakuta searches for answers to help Mai, they spend more time together, and he eventually learns of her hidden feelings…

This is an unusual story that takes place in a town of bright skies and glistening seas, where Sakuta encounters various intriguing girls.

Fate/stay night [Heaven’s Feel] THE MOVIE II. lost butterfly (Blu-ray)

Fate/stay night [Heaven’s Feel] II. lost butterfly heads to Blu-ray on November 19, 2019. The home video release features both English and Japanese audio and will be available in both limited and standard editions. The limited edition comes with the Original Soundtrack II, an art book, and an animation material booklet all housed in a rigid box with an illustration by Takashi Takeuchi. The limited edition will cost about $70 while the standard edition will cost about $40.

Aniplex of America describes the film as follows:

“The opponent I must fight still remains in this town.”

Based on the record-breaking visual novel Fate/stay night, the final route, a.k.a. the Sakura Route, has been made into a three-part theatrical feature. Now its second chapter comes to Blu-ray.

Shirou Emiya made his choice: to keep fighting, and to protect Sakura Matou. Due to the participation of Zouken Matou in the Holy Grail War, and his summoning of the Servant True Assassin, things begin to distort, steadily worsening day by day. Resolved to protect Sakura and not betray her, Shirou refuses to leave the battle. While Sakura worries about Shirou, she also finds herself entangled in her own fate as a mage. However, their fervent wishes are about be crushed by the mysterious black shadow that covers the city, killing Masters and Servants one by one…

Aniplex of America is releasing the complete Fate/Zero anime in one Blu-ray box set on October 29, 2019. The set comes with all 25 episodes of the anime including exclusive, unaired extended episodes of the show. It comes with four Blu-ray discs in clear cases with 2-sided wraps and a mini booklet. The set comes housed in a rigid box featuring an illustration by Takashi Takeuchi. This release will feature both English and Japanese audio options. The set will cost about $180.

In the ultimate battlefield that is the Holy Grail War, seven Masters summon familiars called Servants to fight one another until only one survives. Their goal: to obtain the power of the Holy Grail, a relic that makes one’s formerly unattainable wish a reality.

KILL La KILL (Complete Blu-ray Box Set)

Aniplex of America is releasing the complete KILL La KILL anime in one Blu-ray box set on December 24, 2019. The set will contain all 24 episodes of the anime on 5 Blu-ray discs and a booklet. It will also come with an unaired 25th episode. The Blu-ray set will have a new package illustration by Hiroyuki Imaishi. The release will feature both English and Japanese audio options. The set will cost about $160.

The series is described as follows:

“Life Fiber Synchronize! Kamui Senketsu!!”

The anime created by the legendary duo of Kazuki Nakashima and Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann) is finally reborn as a complete Blu-ray box set!
