Today during a presentation at gamescom 2018, it was revealed via a short trailer that Elma is making an appearance in new content for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The defender of planet Mira in Xenoblade Chronicles X, Elma is now ready to duel in the Challenge Battle mode, according to the description of the trailer video on Nintendo UK’s YouTube channel. You can check out the full Elma trailer right here:

Elma is not the first character from a previous game to appear in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, as Shulk and Fiora have already done so, too. Elma is also not the only Xenoblade Chronicles 2 news announced today, either. They also announced Corvin, a new and very powerful rare blade. They showed some concept art of him, which you can see below:

The bulk of their video presentation today showed live gameplay of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country expansion. The gameplay footage of the expansion DLC starts off in an expansive desert locale. The upcoming expansion follows the events that took place 500 years prior to the story of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, when a hero was driven into darkness, and the kingdom doomed to its fate.

The Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country expansion has you controlling three teams. The first is Lora, and her two blades (Jin, and Haze). The second is Addam, and his two blades are Mythra and Minoth. Finally, the third team is Hugo, with his blades Brighid and Aegaeon. The combat system has also been refined, as well. Here is the trailer for the new expansion:

According to the Game Store page for Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country on the Nintendo of America website, the expansion will launch on September 21st, 2018 (with the same date listed on the Nintendo Europe website) . It will be available as DLC in the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Expansion Pass, or as a standalone retail game. Nintendo has already released the 1.5.2 update that added Elma and Corvin to the game for owners of the expansion pass. Finally, below is the full presentation if you’d like to watch the gameplay footage they showed of the expansion:

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
