To coincide with the 40th anniversary of Mobile Suite Gundam, Japanese network NHK is holding an “All Gundam Poll” for fans. This poll coincides with an upcoming Secret History: Gundam Historia special that will air May 5th through BS Premium. The poll lets fans vote on their favorite work, favorite Mobile Suite mech, favorite character, and favorite Gundam songs.

Fans of Gundam outside of Japan may also vote on this poll, but all must provide their nickname, gender, age, and location. Only one Favorite (the green box on the site) may be chosen, but may choose up to three Mobile Suits, five characters, and two songs. To wit, the Gundam franchise has produced more than 2,000 characters; more than 900 Mobile Suits; and more than 200 songs in 40 years.

The original Mobile Suite Gundam, created by Yoshiyuki Tomino for Nippon Sunrise and Bandai, first premiered in 1979 and revitalized the giant robot anime sub-genre. Voting for Secret History: Gundam Historia ends on April 20th at 10:59 AM EDT and the results will be reflected in the program when it airs on May 5th. The Japanese newspaper Daily Sports claims more anniversary projects are planned for 2019.
