VisualArt’s has launched the international crowdfunding page for the Kud Wafter anime movie. The initial project ran in Japan from July 19 until the end of September and raised 78,047,044 yen, securing a 40-50-minute theatrical release, animated by Little Busters! anime studio J.C.Staff. This new project, hosted by Tokyo Otaku Mode Projects, will run until mid-December and aims to raise 3 million yen for a worldwide distribution and English subtitles, with a 15 million yen stretch goal to extend the movie to 60 minutes.

Kud Wafter Anime Crowdfunding Launches for International Backers

Worldwide Version of a Japan-Only Campaign that Raised ¥78,047,044

Tokyo, Japan -Oct. 25, 2017- Key/VisualArts and Tokyo Otaku Mode (incorporated in Delaware, U.S.; representative: Tomohide Kamei; CEO: Naomitsu Kodaka; herein referred to as TOM), announce the launch of international crowdfunding to create an anime movie based on the Kud Wafter visual novel. The campaign starts at 11:00 am Oct 25 (JST).

The original Japan-only crowdfunding campaign ended on Sept. 29, exceeding all stretch goals for a total of ¥78,047,044. Now, with the long-promised launch of the international crowdfunding campaign, fans around the world can contribute to the creation of the Kud Wafter anime film—and potentially even increase its length.

The international campaign will take place on TOM Projects, a crowdfunding and product development platform created by Tokyo Otaku Mode to help bring fans closer to popular IPs and creators.

Background
Kud Wafter is a spin-off of Little Busters!, a visual novel released in 2007 by game maker Key, also the creators of popular franchises Angel Beats! and CLANNAD. J.C.STAFF later adapted Little Busters! into an anime.

Fan-favorite character Kudryavka “Kud” Noumi became the main heroine of her very own game, Kud Wafter, in 2010. Players have clamored for a Kud Wafter anime ever since. Now Key/VisualArts has teamed up with J.C.STAFF in hopes of making this dream project a reality together with fans worldwide, via the TOM Projects platform.

Goals & Rewards
Based on the results of the Japanese crowdfunding campaign, the Kud Wafter anime movie project is already guaranteed to culminate in the production of a 40-50 minute theatrical film. The international campaign launches with a goal of ¥3,000,000. Achieving this goal will enable an English translation for the movie as well as worldwide distribution of crowdfunding rewards.

Nearly all rewards available to Japanese backers are also being offered to fans outside Japan—including extremely rare rewards that got instantly snapped up during the Japanese crowdfunding campaign. A special reserve of these have been set aside for the international campaign.

Available reward packages feature perks like special Kud Wafter merchandise, a crowdfunding-only edition of the movie Blu-ray, the opportunity to list your name in the end-roll credits, invitations to exclusive parties in Tokyo with the staff and cast, and much more.
