I hope all our Nintendo Download readers are staying cool today! I’m melting into a puddle in 100 degree weather, but didn’t want to forget my promise to get out the latest Nintendo goodies for this week. This time it’s a mix of old and new, with some fantastic deals on classic gaming, including some special offerings from our favorite hungry pink hero. Let’s see what’s worth playing!

Nintendo Download | Retro City Rampage DX

First up, a fantastic new age old school inspired game is making its way to the Switch – Retro City Rampage DX! I picked this up a while ago for my 3DS, and found it a breath of fresh air in a market saturated by AAA garbage. It’s like a highlight reel of the best games from the 80s and I love it for that.

Nintendo Download | I am Setsuna

As far as savings, there’s a robust amount of them this time, much more than usual. Firstly, if you wanted to get I Am Setsuna on Switch but didn’t want to pay full price, now it’s discounted by 33 percent until August 10th! While it’s a bummer we didn’t get the physical version, I can attest that I Am Setsuna is well worth picking up. Even more exciting, at least for me, is the Kirby 25th anniversary sale! It lasts until August 8th and features up to 25% off a bunch of colorful adventures, including the following – Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Kirby: Planet Robobot, 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure, Kirby’s Dream Land, Kirby’s Dream Land 2, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land, Kirby’s Adventure, Kirby Super Star, Kirby’s Dream Land 3, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and Kirby Squeak Squad. It’s a shame if you were hoping for Kirby Air Ride or Canvas Curse, but that’s still a heaping helping of pink goodness. If you want to see how cheap they are, just click here. Oh and if that wasn’t enough great savings, the following games are also worth a look on sale. Brave Dungeon (3DS) is discounted to $3.99; Pentapuzzle (Wii U) is discounted to $3; Fairune (3DS) is still cheap at $1.99; Rage of the Gladiator (3DS) is still a steal at $3.49; SpeedX 3D Hyper Edition (3DS) is discounted to $1.49 and SpeedX 3D (3DS) is discounted to $1.99. That’s a lot of savings. To see the rest of the games on sale, click here.

Remember when I said that was it for savings? Well, I lied. If you use My Nintendo, the following games are discounted this week – Star Fox Zero (Wii U) is discounted by 30%; Star Fox 3D (3DS) is 30% off and Star Fox Command (Wii U) is a hefty 40% off! And if that didn’t sate your thirst for savings, here’s a few more that are discounted on My Nintendo – Pandora’s Tower (Wii U), Earthbound Beginnings (Wii U), Dillon’s Rolling Western (3DS) and Dillon’s Rolling Western: The Last Ranger are all up to 50% off with your precious points.

Last but not least, the following digital titles are worth a look. The latest ACA NEOGEO, Aero Fighters 2, brings great vertical shmup action to the Switch. If you demand more shmup goodness, you might want to check out Strikers1945, also for the Switch. If you want something a little stranger, maybe check out Slime-san for retro action. If you want something totally odd, take a gander at Gunbarich and Puzzle Adventure Blockle. Finally, if you want to give your Wii U a bit more love, check out Flight of Light for crazy rhythm action.

That’s it for this week’s Nintendo Download! Not a ton of new retail games, but lots and lots of digital savings. I myself will be picking up Kirby 64 on my Wii U and possibly Brave Dungeon for 3DS. Tune in to oprainfall next time for the latest Nintendo Download.
