Nintendo Switch

The latest sales data from Famitsu has confirmed that the Nintendo have sold one million units of the Switch hybrid games console in Japan since it’s launch four months ago on 3rd March. This data is valid as of 25th June. The precise total is 1,016,473 units sold in Japan. Additionally, the five best selling Switch titles (also as of 25th June) were revealed and they are the following:

  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (04/28/17, Nintendo) – 501,614 units sold
  2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo, 03/03/17) – 460,480 units sold
  3. 1-2-Switch (Nintendo, 03/03/17) – 200,807 units sold
  4. Arms (Nintendo, 06/16/17) – 154,845 units sold
  5. Super Bomberman R (Konami, 03/03/17) – 92,112 units sold

    That’s pretty impressive for the time frame it’s been available. Japan may be the Switch’s strongest market.

      It is impressive for a console in Japan, but I would argue that the US is their strongest market simply due to the number of people.

      Yeah in sheer sales US will most likely get the first place for the NS, but in Japan Nintendo is the strongest. Same with Playstation for Europe and Xbox for US.

      Is it? Didn’t PS4 sell 1 million in the first 24 hours even without the artificial shortages to keep sales going?

      It is rather impressive. The million PS4 sales were in North America. It took the PS4 49 weeks to reach that milestone in Japan, while the Switch did it in 17 weeks.

  • The switch was made with Japan in mind so this is not surprising. I guess the vita is dead in japan too.
