This is an especially exciting Nintendo Download, as it is the first to officially deal with the brand spanking new Nintendo Switch! Hell, I should call this Nintendo Download: Switch Edition, but that’s probably not necessary. There’s a lot to cover today, for both the new Nintendo console as well as some great content coming to Wii U and 3DS. Let’s get started!

Nintendo Download | Zelda: Breath of the Wild

First off, tomorrow is the big day, and as such, there’s a lot of quality launch titles to go over. Decidedly the biggest deal is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Not only is this a fantastic looking new title in the beloved series, it’s also the first to embrace open world exploration and mechanics. Though it is coming to both Wii U and Switch, I’m sure many are looking forward to booting it up on their shiny new console. It’s also interesting to note that Breath of the Wild already has an expansion DLC available alongside the release of the game. DLC Pack 1 will cost an additional $19.99 and will offer new content, while DLC Pack 2 will release the 2017 holiday season. That’s good news for Zelda fans, assuming they have the extra money to spend.

Nintendo Download | Super Bomberman R

That’s not all that’s coming to the eShop, however. 1-2-Switch will also be available, for those who like random party games. There’s also Snipperclips – Cut It Out Together!, though that one looks very much like shovelware to me, or at least a game targeted at a much younger audience. Other eShop available titles for the Switch include Just Dance 2017, Fast RMX, I Am Setsuna and Super Bomberman R. That’s a pretty mixed bag, but some exciting and fun looking games nonetheless. However, the digital game that has me most excited is much more retro!

Nintendo Download | Treasure Trove

Yes, tomorrow marks the release of the highly anticipated 3rd DLC for Shovel Knight, called Specter of Torment! This release will also coincide with the update called Treasure Trove, which will bring the game up to speed, as well as making it ready for the eventual King Knight campaign. Treasure Trove is set to be an exclusive to the Nintendo Switch for a limited time. I know I’m very excited to get my hands on Specter Knight’s campaign, and I recommend you stay tuned to my review when it goes out sometime next week.

Nintendo Download | Trio of Towns

As far as 3DS action, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is now available. You can check out our review to see if it’s right for you. And on the Wii U side of things, there are two new virtual console releases today. First up is Dungeon Explorer, which has you pick one of 8 classes and make your way with friends through harrowing dungeons. The other is Neutopia, which looks a lot like a Zelda look alike, but made by Konami. Either way, I’ve never heard of either of these old school games, so I’ll be sure to check them out.

On the sales side of things, there are some good deals to be found. If you forgot, Shovel Knight is on sale for Wii U and 3DS, so if you haven’t picked it up already, you should do so. SMT IV: Apocalypse is also slightly discounted to $39.99, and it’s one of the best games in the long running series. I also highly recommend you check out Stella Glow, which is discounted to $29.99. That one was one of my favorite Nintendo exclusives ever, so RPG fans should give it a look. Here’s the other noteworthy games on sale – Citizens of Earth, Spy Chameleon, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars, Rage of the Gladiator and Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan. Nintendo Download | Xenoblade Chronicles X

Also on the topic of savings, My Nintendo is offering discounts on Xenoblade Chronicles X, Fossil Fighters: Frontier and the fantastic Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. And last but not least, My Nintendo users can pick up a Breath of the Wild mini guide. Good stuff!

Nintendo Download | Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

That’s by far the most exciting week for the Nintendo Download in a long while, and it doesn’t even take into account the great Nindies coming our way later this year. I’m glad to see Nintendo making a big push for their new console, which I will be picking up tomorrow. Chime in below with what games you’re most excited for on the Switch, and whether or not you plan on picking one up this month!
