Square Enix has announced the sales of Final Fantasy XV. Since it’s release in November 29 of last year, the game has shipped over six million units. This also includes digital purchases.

That was not all Square Enix mentioned in the announcement. In addition to the free Holiday DLC, they are planning an update on January 24th for those that download it or the premium version. Doing so will allow players to “gain access to the “Moogle Chocobo Carnival,” a special in-game event that brings an exciting festival to the whole city of Altissia.” Currently, there is no other word on what the in-game event will entail.

There was no mention of the other update planning to add more things, such as adding more story, but you can find more information about that over here. Or if you wish to see the review of Final Fantasy XV, you can check out part 1 here, or part 2 here.

    I thought units shipped didn’t translate to units sold

    Shipments=/=sales

  • Mr0303

    So it is underperforming according to Square.

      its hard to say. we all know console games dont sell as much as they used to. so far the initial sales of this game have been worse than all previous entries but what exactly the reason is is hard to pinpoint. could be japan just doesn’t gaf about consoles anymore. could be ffxiii hurt the series’ image. could be ffxv is a pos. could be a mix of all three. no one really knows,

      I was more mocking the fact of Square’s unreasonable sales expectations for their games than implying any serious analysis.

      “could be japan just doesn’t gaf about consoles anymore” this is not a “could be”, Japan doesn’t care about console anymore, period.

    • Panpopo

      Unless it is Nintendo game, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter or Minecraft you won’t see any large sales from Japan anymore. Amd FF was never as big as DQ in Japan, just in the west.

    Sorry about the error folks, the article has been updated to show shipped units not sold units.

  • Zeonis

    It is doing well but I don’t know how much money they invested in the game.
