yakuza 0 goro majima PlayStation Exclusive

If for some reason you were thinking that Yakuza 0 and Persona 5 would appear on a system that isn’t PlayStation, it doesn’t seem it’s going to happen. John Hardin who is the PR manager for Atlus USA and SEGA of America sent out a tweet regarding exclusivity on Sony’s consoles.

“Persona 5 platforms: PS3, PS4.

Yakuza 0 platforms: PS4.

THAT’S. IT.

No Switch. No PC. Idk about the box label, that’s a Sony thing.”

Yakuza 0 will be released on January 24. Persona 5 will be released on April 4 for the PlayStation 3 & 4.

About Walter P

Plays too much, but still has too many games to finish. Will play any type of game and will watch anything, so is of course not good at being productive. Loves anything crazy.

One interesting bit of information here is that Sony decides which games get the label of “Only on PlayStation”. I guess they can distance themselves from crap releases and boast about the good games that are exclusives.

    • Panpopo

Do you know if Sony helped finance the game, like street fighter 5? That label will make sense then.

Otherwise, Sega has ported games to PC before (like Valkyria Chronicles), so while this is not surprising I was wondering if this was the case. I still think yakuza will be ported down the line. The aggressive pr tweet is kinda funny though.

There is definitely nothing similar to the SFV situation where Sony funded it and even helped with the development.

Yakuza 0 may have some financing from Sony since there is an import list that people vote for Japan-only games that they wish to be localised. I would imagine that Sony would cover some of the publishing costs in the West.

I don’t think there is any deal for Persona 5.

I think the PR guy may have received way too many messages after Sony released that one video with PS4 exclusives and messed up the labels for a couple of them.

      OK, thanks!

    • Mr0303

      You’re welcome!

There’s nothing of the sort, the thing is more complicated, SEGA simply gives Atlus a lot of freedom and SEGA Europe has a lot of freedom as well, in fact SEGA Europe doesn’t really do a damn in EU, but it’s SEGA pc arm, if anyone would port the game is SEGA Europe, which for some reason thinks only about total war, warhammer and manager games ignoring all the rest.
It’s probably more a matter of SEGA Europe not bothering with the port combined with Atlus usual dismissal of the platform.

    • Panpopo

Thanks! Very interesting. My knowledge on pc gaming (other than VNs) is pretty limited, so this was helpful.

    • Miqubi

also THIS is probably the reason SEGA Europe can’t see anything but warhammer

  • So he is just a US PR manager not the guy who actually make the decisions of which systems games will be on. So why are we putting weight to what he says?

    • Panpopo

After reading the other comments, it is playing the long game, in my opinion. Right now, only PS4.

they said persona 5 was elusive from the jump to playstation 4 . with the exception of pc everything else installment wise prior and a after this is done how ever…….

Yo at least Rime which was formerly exclusive to play station4 shows thing are always subject to change though. I don’t think this will the case with persona 5. but thing'[s are always subject to change. Beside’s there are the other installments former and future to 5. So it’s not big thang. Atlus has a contract to honor and I respect for it.
      .
and there was persona Q in the west up here on a nintendo9 system .

Yahkuza has never been on a Nintendo system unlike the persona series ,so it doesn’t make difference other wise with the latter.

    • Nicholas Perry

Yakuza 1&2 HD port was on Wii U in Japan only

    • Kelechuckuw K.c.W

yeah that true .but we didn’t get it in the west with the Wiiu . So I was talking from that stand point since I wasn’t in japan sadly and also didn’t port those games .

    • DONUTS ARE AMAZING

It probably sold terribly in Japan hence why we never got it, likewise any more Yakuza games on Wii U.

  • Zeonis

Since I always buy PlayStation I am fine with this. I was thinking about buying Yakuza 0 but after watching a gameplay video it looked dull to me.

I’m still waiting for that moment when a persona game is released on pc, oh well, maybe next year.
