Void Destroyer 2


The folks at Iteration 11 are pleased to announce the Steam Early Access launch of their latest game, Void Destroyer 2. It is the sequel to their previous space sandbox game, Void Destroyer. The game is set in a desolate asteroid field full of danger. Void Destroyer 2 focuses on combat, tactics and strategy. The game gives the player lots of freedom in how you play and who you play as. Space Combat Sim and Real-Time Strategy Hybrid Launching in Early Access for Windows

September 22, 2016 – Chicago, Illinois – Iteration 11 announces the Early Access release of its sandbox space combat sim and RTS hybrid Void Destroyer 2 — start with a ship, end with an empire.

Set in a desolate asteroid field, Void Destroyer 2 emphasizes combat, tactics and strategy — with battles ranging from one on one to fleets versus fleets. The game contains a simple, manageable yet engaging economy and offers loads of freedom to the player on how to play and who to play as. These are dangerous times with many opportunities for the intrepid, the cunning, and the ruthless.

Void Destroyer 2 is currently a work in progress — with full release planned for 2017.

More about Void Destroyer 2

Inspired by the greats (Privateer, Freelancer, Independence War, the X series, Homeworld, Mount and Blade) and a response to them. Self funded from profit made by Void Destroyer, a space combat and real time strategy hybrid, with an expanded self made engine. Pursuing the dream of making the ultimate space sandbox, on an indie budget.

Start in the cockpit of a single ship, work your way up to a massive fleet. Issue orders, via a real time strategy interface, massive fights won’t be a massive headache to control. Take remote control of your ships on the fly, to take advantage of their unique strengths against your enemy’s weakness. Newtonian flight mechanics that don’t require calculators, space feels like space without the need of a PhD. Battles ranging from small to huge, all intense. Tons of ships, all flyable, ranging from tiny fighters, to huge dreadnoughts. As big challenge as you want, take on more difficult jobs that pay more, or hire ships to boost your forces. Hunt pirates for bounties, pay them off to avoid conflict, or join them and demand ransom and cargo.

Fast travel via a overworld map, the focus is less about spending time staring at space and more about what’s happening in it. A simplified economy that’s easy to get started in, expand and manage. Mine and trade, or let your assets do it for you.

About Iteration 11

Living the indie game dev dream, that started in 2009 experimenting with open source rendering engines. Obsessed ever since, focusing on the then “dead” 3D space sim genre. Incorporated in 2013, after a successful Kickstarter and Greenlight on Steam. Part time indie game dev since 2014 Early Access release of Void Destroyer on Steam. Full time indie game dev since the 2015, a few days after the full release. The commute is a few steps to the basement, breaks are naps with a cat, mowing the lawn, shoveling snow and of course lots and lots of video games. It’s been a long road and not always a straight one, be careful what you dream about since childhood video games, it might come true.

About Michael Fontanini

Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general).

Michael is also a computer programmer. This started with a toy he got as a kid called Pre-Computer 1000 that was made by V-Tech. It had a simple programming mode (a bare-bones version of BASIC) which is what started him down the road of being a programmer! Michael can program in BASIC, Visual Basic, C++, C#, and is familiar with Java and Lua Script.

Putting programming and gaming together, Michael became a hobbyist game developer, which may give him some good insights on game development! Most recently, he has been playing with the Unity 3D game engine (a powerful and easy-to-use engine) and learning 3D modelling in Blender.

I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
