Limited Run Games have confirmed they will be bringing not one, but two of WayForward’s Shantae games to PS4 as a limited physical release. These two titles are Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse and the Director’s Cut of Shantae: Risky’s Revenge.

The games will be releasing via their online store in October at the same time. Additionally, there will be no PS Vita release as there is no Vita version of either of the two games, however there is reversible cover art on the PS4 version.

Check out the confirmation tweets below.

Both are great games and physical editions are always welcome. I wish we had an equivalent for LRG in Europe.

    • Nathan Wallace

Limited run ships worldwide and where the games are all on ps4 they’re region free.

    • Mr0303

The thing is that imported versions are incompatible with DLC, which makes the copy not complete. This is why I would prefer a local version of what LRG are doing.

    • Didney Worl

For what it’s worth, neither Shantae game has DLC.

    • Mr0303

Yeah, I own both games. I was talking in general, why importing has its drawbacks.

    • MusouTensei

Well you can make a US account and buy the DLC there.

    • Mr0303

You can, but I prefer to have one main account.

    • MusouTensei

I have my german main and 2 side accounts (US and JP), I can play everything I downloaded from the side accounts on my main.

    • Mr0303

I have a main UK one, a Japanese account for some games and demos, just not an US one. The DLC you purchase on the US one won’t duplicate for the main one. I would import some US versions of games that are not released here at all, but recently the markets are getting pretty identical.

I was kinda hoping Rising Star would’ve published the physical console versions like they’re doing with the 3DS version of Pirate’s Curse. I’m still buying them anyway.

    Awesome

Limited release? Welp, I guess Limited Run Games has to live up to its name somehow. =P

  • DariusQ

Too bad no physical release for 3DS. Still cool though.
