Following on from the uncertainty that has surrounded the Asian English localisation announcement of Genkai Tokki Moero Crystal, Play-Asia have confirmed that they have recieved word from Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia that the localisation of the game will not contain English subtitles, only Chinese.

They confirmed it via this tweet, with the promise of any further info to be relayed should they hear about it.

Moero Crystal is the sequel to Moe Chronicle which was localised for an Asian English and Chinese release in the region last year by Sony. Moero Crystal is due to release in Chinese in Asia this month, with the game already been out in Japan for about a year.

Do they not want money? In all seriousness I’m curious why they decided this. I guess the return isn’t worth the pain and costs of localization to them.

    • j0eeyy_p

They should never have announced an English version if they were going to cancel it later on. Either that or higher ups at Sony interfered and told the Asia branch to stop localising Vita games into English.

    • JGuill

That would be so dumb if the latter. These Asian English releases have been doing quite well lately and are a reason many still play Vita over here

    • j0eeyy_p

This is Sony. It wouldn’t surprise me if that’s exaclty what they are doing.

    • As NISA has beautifully demonstrated, most companies are allergic to money.

  • Mr0303

Fuck this gay world. I was really looking forward to this game. This really makes me worried that we won’t see any English version of Genkai Tokki: Seven Pirates.

    • Didney Worl

I’m hoping now that we have PQube, maybe they’ll at least bring Genkai Tokki.

    • j0eeyy_p

If it has to be censored, most likely not. Plus IFI would probably have first dibs on a potential Western release anyway.

    • Kazkari

IFI said they wouldn’t release anything that needed to be censored after the last issues with MonsterMon.

    • j0eeyy_p

Exactly, so I honestly am not expecting a release at this point.

    • Alistair

They can go the PC route matter of fact i hope it goes onto PC cut out Sony completely that make them sit up.

    • j0eeyy_p

If they do that, I would want a physical copy. Otherwise, I’d buy the game, but then i’d be waiting for somebody to patch the Vita version via Henkaku then play it.

That’s just me though. I would have huge respect for them if IFI did that.

    • Kazkari

I am 100% certain they wont be able to do it. I mean the game looks really good but the girls do look very kid ish. Plus if we aren’t getting this I really doubt we have any chance.

    • Cats736

Not explicit enough to have an issue and, as usual, any censorship would be self-imposed.

    • Kazkari

It does have quite alot of loli’s, I played Moero Chronicle and this is ment to be a step up, there was alot of loli’s in Chronicle with little clothing.

    • Cats736

Also played it, wouldn’t have been an issue if it was released in the US.

    • j0eeyy_p

You never really know with these issues though unless some of the confidential rating boards dialogue emails are leaked. I’d hope that if it does become a problem with the ESRB, it would be exclusively released in PEGI territories as I doubt the USK and ACB will want to touch this game.

There’s always Seven Pirates, I suppose.

    • Mr0303

Hope remains at the end of Pandora’s box.

  • Firion Hope

    awwww

  • Kazkari

I’m glad I finally gave in and bought the Japanese version afew months ago. I knew this was gonna happen with how long we had no word. It would be lovely to have a reason for it though.

    • j0eeyy_p

      #vitaisdead #longlivevr #fortheplayers

    • Kazkari

      The Vita isn’t dead though.

    • j0eeyy_p

Of course it’s not. But according to Sony and the Western dudebros, it is.

  • MusouTensei

That fucking sucks, fuck you SCEJ.

  • Kiryu

    Very disappointed.

  • Cats736

    Screw you Sony.

  • Schrodinger’s Clit

Fuck off. I thought Moero Chronicle did well? What’s their reason for not translating this?

  • Alistair

So basically what this means is Sony Asia Lied to us at TGS 20125. Bravo then they should be called out.

  • SupaPhly

    …FUCK

  • SupaPhly

maybe someone going to TGS can ask them?
    and also tell them wtf
